Building on our past. Ready for the future.
Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We’re bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.
Play an integral role in shaping and delivering major power generation projects that directly impact energy reliability and the transition to more sustainable systems. As a Project Director – Power, you will lead large-scale EPC/EPCM projects—specifically within simple cycle and combined cycle power construction—ensuring execution excellence from concept through commissioning.
You will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, aligning project delivery with client objectives, and driving performance across multidisciplinary teams in complex, high-risk environments.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of a major or mega‑scale power project (or multiple complex programs), ensuring alignment with contractual, commercial, and operational requirements. This role exists to translate business strategy into project execution—balancing safety, cost, schedule, and quality while maintaining strong client relationships and delivering measurable value.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide overall leadership and direction for simple cycle and combined cycle power construction projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution
Define project goals, execution strategies, and delivery frameworks aligned with contractual obligations and client expectations
Lead, mentor, and manage project leadership teams, including Project Managers and functional leads, through subordinate leadership structures
Drive project performance across cost, schedule, risk, and quality metrics, implementing corrective actions where required
Develop a deep understanding of customer objectives, commercial drivers, and contract terms to proactively manage risk and opportunity
Oversee project governance, reporting, and stakeholder communication, ensuring transparency at executive and client levels
Lead complex commercial engagements, including joint ventures, partnerships, and high‑value contract negotiations
Serve as Proposal Manager for large and mega projects, contributing to strategic pursuits and business growth
Champion organizational change within project environments, introducing new methodologies, systems, or delivery models where beneficial
Ensure adherence to Worley policies, procedures, and systems while fostering a high‑performance, safety‑first culture
What you’ll bring to the role
Extensive experience (typically 20+ years) in project delivery within the energy or power sector, including 15+ years in leadership roles
Demonstrated expertise in simple cycle and/or combined cycle power construction projects—this is a critical requirement
Proven track record leading large or mega EPC/EPCM projects, including site‑based execution
Strong commercial acumen with experience managing complex contracts, joint ventures, and high‑risk project environments
Ability to operate with broad authority, making independent, high‑impact decisions related to long‑range planning and execution strategy
Experience working in multi‑cultural, multi‑national environments with geographically dispersed teams
Deep understanding of project management systems, governance frameworks, and delivery methodologies
Capability to lead through others, influencing outcomes across multiple layers of leadership and functional teams
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to align executive‑level priorities with project execution
A degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Professional certifications such as PMP (via Project Management Institute), IPMA, or APM are advantageous
Benefits
Feel the energy at Worley with access to a range of benefits including: paid‑time off, holiday pay (usually 8 per year in the US), and eligibility to participate in the medical, life, dental, and vision insurance plans, as well as 401K plan.
Take the next step in your career and help deliver the infrastructure that powers communities and industries. If you are ready to lead complex, high‑impact projects and thrive in a collaborative, performance‑driven environment, we encourage you to apply.
