We’re hiring a
Survey Party Chief
to lead field operations for a variety of land surveying projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction layout surveys. This role oversees field crews, ensures quality and safety standards, and coordinates daily field activities.
This position is ideal for someone with strong experience using survey equipment, GPS systems (RTK), and total stations, along with the ability to read plans and manage client relationships in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage field crews on survey projects, including:
Boundary surveys
Topographic surveys
ALTA/NSPS land title surveys
As-built surveys and house location surveys
Wall checks and construction layout/stakeout
Plan and coordinate daily field activities, including crew assignments and site logistics
Ensure accuracy, quality control, and adherence to project specifications
Train, mentor, and supervise survey crew members
Conduct daily briefings and debriefings to track progress and address field issues
Maintain and promote a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with all safety guidelines
Build and maintain client relationships while representing the company in the field
Support additional field and project duties as needed
Skills, Knowledge, Expertise
2+ years of experience leading a survey field crew (Party Chief or Crew Chief)
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Proficiency in GPS surveying (RTK, static), total stations, and data collectors
Experience with Leica survey equipment (robots and controllers preferred)
Strong ability to read and interpret:
Blueprints, plats, maps, and site plans
Deeds and legal descriptions
Field notes and construction documents
Knowledge of construction layout, utilities, and site development practices
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and /or move 50 pounds.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to walk over uneven terrain and active construction sites.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to climb ladders or through uneven terrain and construction sites.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
