Position Description
Valiant Solutions is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our rapidly growing and innovative cybersecurity team!
This is your opportunity to join a busy Network Security Engineering team that builds and enhances our government clients’ security fabric. In this role, you will focus on supporting dual‑stacked (IPv4 and IPv6) enterprise IT and IT security assets. Security infrastructure that includes DNS, Firewalls, AWS Cloud, and Enterprise logging solutions for our client’s large enterprise network. You will be experienced with DNS, DHCP, Next‑Gen firewalls, and network technologies, ideally in large enterprise environments. Having a solid foundation of IPv4 AND IPv6 routing, switching, and load balancer experience is critical to our client’s approach to Security Engineering. You will have the opportunity to work extensively with various firewalls, DNS, AWS cloud, and Zscaler Zero Trust technologies. This diverse team is responsible for securing a large traditional and cloud infrastructure. We are seeking a motivated individual who is a keen learner, works well in a constantly evolving environment, and is currently designing and implementing cloud security solutions.

Required Experience:
5+ years of experience working with Cisco Firepower and Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, related degree, or an additional two (2) years of relevant experience.
Candidates must have experience with high‑availability firewall configuration and deployment experience in a remote environment. Equally comfortable with GUI and command line access.
5+ years of solid networking experience (Routing & Switching). The successful candidate will have experience working in a mid to large environment and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Equally comfortable using Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Candidates must have experience in troubleshooting complex issues involving multiple devices and network connectivity, traversing them.
Candidates must understand fundamentally how devices work, potential issues due to misconfiguration, and the impact of the devices on support mission‑related services and overall security posture
Troubleshoot complex connectivity issues involving multiple firewalls, IPS, load balancers, and VPN devices.
Tune IDS/IPS signature
Desired Experience:
Experience with Zscaler ( ZIA/ZPA )
Responsibilities:
Configure and support Cisco Firepower/ASA and Palo Alto Networks firewalls. This includes administration, patching, upgrades, rule maintenance, policy updates, performance, and security posture tuning.
Troubleshoot complex network connectivity issues involving multiple firewalls, load balancers, and VPN devices, extending the network to the AWS cloud.
Troubleshoot Dual Stacked (IPv4 and IPv6) security infrastructure that includes DNS, Firewalls, Cisco ACI, and AWS Cloud.
Keep detailed records of customer interaction and problem resolution in a ticketing system
Monitor network traffic, analyze logs, and respond to security incidents and threats
Provide support for internal and external customers in a large enterprise environment
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and support projects as part of the Security team.
Manage hardware and software inventories
Support vulnerability assessments and implement remediation strategies
Work with remote teams to install, maintain, and troubleshoot security hardware
Ensure customers receive top‑of‑the‑line support in a polite and courteous manner
Develop standard operating procedures and network topology documentations
Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule providing support after hours as required.

The salary range for this position is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. It has been benchmarked in relation to the scope of the role, market rate, and internal equity. The salary for this role is expected to be in the $130,000 - $145,000 range. Where a candidate falls within the band can be determined based on one or more of the following: skillset, experience level, achievements, education, geographic location, security clearance, involvement in corporate tasks, and other non‑discriminatory factors. In addition to the base salary, this role will include benefits as described above. Valiant reserves the right to adjust the salary range, experience requirements, and position responsibilities at any time without prior notice.
