
Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator (Jericho)

The Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator position is accountable for assisting in the overall human resources function of the bank, including the processing of payroll, maintenance of adequate employment files and company records, controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance accuracy and comply with company policy, as well as banking regulations. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in payroll processing, strong analytical and technical skills and perform a wide range of human resources, payroll, administrative responsibilities and uphold accountability for accuracy.
The position of the
Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator
is an important role with the primary responsibility of providing support to the Bank’s Human Resources team and reporting to the SVP – Assistant Controller & Director of Human Resources. The candidate will be exposed to all departments and have a broad range of responsibilities, providing a great opportunity to expand his or her professional skill set.
The standard job hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm Monday – Friday. Additional time is often required to facilitate team meetings or meet required deadlines. The job is a full-time position and is located at the Bank’s headquarters at 100 Jericho Turnpike, Suite 100, Jericho, NY 11753.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain overall company human resources records and employee files
Process and Distribution of bi-weekly payrolls, funding & general ledger journal entries
Manage the collection of payroll documentation and ensure that the weekly payroll process runs smoothly and accurately
Preserve documentation to support payroll transactions and ensure it can be easily retrieved for review and audits
Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the HR system, information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave, deductions and withholding, and other information
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies and issues
Performs other related clerical payroll duties as assigned
Record daily attendance, maintain company vacation calendar, reconciliation of time off vs annual allotments
Ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with the federal, state and Bank Secrecy Act regulatory requirements
Manage the administration of employee benefits and annual open enrollment process
Process 401k funding and managing relationship with vendors
Monthly benefit invoice and associated journal entries
Administration of job posting onboarding new hires, new hire orientation and terminations
Annual review and renewal of employee handbook and code of conduct
Annual testing for 401k and compliance calendar
Annual performance evaluations
Quarterly compensation reconciliations
Ad hoc human resources data requests
Ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with federal, state and Bank Secrecy Act regulatory requirements.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, finance, accounting or business related
5+ years of experience in Human Resources-related position
5+ years of experience in payroll processing
Experience with PEO providers, such as Paychex Flex or ADP is strongly encouraged
Knowledge of compensation, benefits and tax regulations related to payroll multi states
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
Ability to work well in a fast-paced evolving team-based environment and consistently meet deadlines
Strong project management skills
Strong understanding of account reconciliations process

Estimated Salary Range:
$100,000 - $120,000 / year
