Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely movement, staging, and availability of materials required to support shelter assembly, cable assembly, and test operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production flow by ensuring workstations are properly supplied, materials are handled correctly, and inventory transactions are accurate.
The Material Handler supports a fast-paced, hourly-driven manufacturing environment and works closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to prevent material shortages, reduce disruption, and maintain an organized, safe production floor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, move, stage, and issue materials to support assembly and test operations.
- Ensure materials, kits, and components are delivered to workstations according to production schedules.
- Perform material replenishment to maintain continuous workflow and prevent line stoppages.
- Accurately transact inventory movements using designated systems or tools.
- Stage work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods in designated locations.
- Support kitting and pre-staging of materials for shelter /cabinet builds and test activities.
- Identify and escalate material shortages, discrepancies, or quality concerns.
- Maintain organization, labeling, and cleanliness of material storage and staging areas.
- Follow handling requirements for sensitive components, including cables, fiber, and electronic parts.
- Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and discrepancy resolution as required.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and standard work requirements at all times.
- Collaborate with supervisors and operators to support changing production priorities.
- Ability to perform basic component testing where required.
Managerial Responsibility
- This role has no direct reports.
Travel/Shift Requirements
- Primary schedule is first shift OR primary schedule is 2nd shift.
- Less than 10% travel required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move materials up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to push or pull carts or material handling equipment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts based on production needs.

Education and Experience Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-3 years of experience in a material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing support role.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, production or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to follow standard work instructions and safety procedures.
- Basic computer or inventory system experience.
Education and Experience Preferred
- Experience supporting assembly, manufacturing, or test operations.
- Familiarity with kitting, WIP management, and line-side material delivery.
- Experience handling electronic components, cables, or fiber materials.
- Forklift or powered industrial truck certification (or ability to obtain).
- Experience working in Lean or continuous improvement environments.
