Primary Purpose:
Supports the payroll team, under direct supervision of the Director of Payroll, the payroll assistant aids in the processing of semi-monthly and monthly payrolls. They will assist with various employee-related functions as they relate to timekeeping and payroll processing.
Qualifications
High school Diploma or GED
Practices integrity with highly sensitive and confidential information
Ability to understand, explain and apply written and oral instructions, practices and procedures
Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and attention to detail skills
Ability to create detailed and accurate reports, and meet deadlines
Demonstrates leadership with proper attendance and punctuality
Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel and various other computer programs
eFinance Plus, Frontline Absence Management and TimeClock Plus experience a plus.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares payroll for a large volume of employees to be approved by the deadline
Receives and processes Laserfiche forms submitted by staff
Collecting and analyzing the accuracy of employee timesheets
Entering and updating payroll data in the software
Maintaining a record of employees’ leave banks
Calculating employee salaries considering overtime hours and deductions
Mailing electronic paychecks or handing over hard copies of the same to employees
Resolving any inquiries related to the payroll
Ensuring that there are no discrepancies in the payroll activities
Runs reports, reviews, and tracks budget code usage as needed
Communicates department-wide payroll issues or concerns to Director and department administrative coordinator
Demonstrates exceptional customer service and confidentiality when assisting employees with payroll issues
