Logistics Coordinator - Second Shift

U.S. Lumber, an SBP Brand, is currently looking for a Second Shift Logistics Coordinator to join our VALUES based organization. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and optimizing daily transportation and delivery operations within a building materials environment. This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant movement of materials to customers, retail partners (e.g., Home Depot), and job sites while supporting drivers, maintaining documentation accuracy, and upholding safety and service standards. The role also supports inventory accuracy through cycle count coordination and reconciliation.

Monday-Friday - 2:00pm-10:30pm

Responsibilities

Schedule and coordinate daily deliveries and pickups based on order priority, route efficiency, and customer requirements

Communicate with drivers regarding routes, delivery instructions, and schedule changes

Monitor deliveries in real time using GPS/telematics systems (e.g., Samsara) to ensure on-time performance

Adjust routes as needed to accommodate delays, traffic, or operational changes

Customer & Account Support

Coordinate deliveries for major retail partners (e.g., Home Depot), ensuring compliance with delivery requirements

Verifying all required delivery information is complete, including Key Rec numbers, BOL accuracy, and special-order requirements

Ensure special orders are delivered completely (no partial deliveries unless approved)

Communicate proactively with customers regarding delivery updates, delays, or issues

Documentation & Compliance

Review and verify Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proof of Delivery (POD), and shipping paperwork for accuracy and completeness

Schedule, print, and review customer orders and delivery tickets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with dispatch schedules

Ensure all printed tickets and orders match system entries, including quantities, delivery locations, and special instructions

Ensure POD signatures are obtained and properly documented

Maintain compliance with DOT/ELD regulations, ensuring drivers are properly logged and records are accurate

Assist with audits, investigations, and documentation related to delivery discrepancies or compliance concerns

Inventory Control & Cycle Counts

Coordinate and perform cycle counts of inventory to ensure accuracy of on-hand quantities

Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies, including research of shipping/receiving documents and system transactions

Partner with warehouse and yard teams to identify root causes of variances (e.g., mispicks, loading errors, damages, or incorrect entries)

Support accurate inventory records within the system and ensure timely adjustments are properly documented and approved

Support periodic physical inventory counts and audits as required

Communicate inventory issues that may impact order fulfillment or delivery schedules

Inventory & Yard Coordination

Work closely with warehouse and yard teams to ensure orders are staged, loaded, and ready for dispatch

Coordinate trailer movement and yard flow with yard jockeys and material handlers

Verify load accuracy prior to dispatch to prevent delivery errors

Driver Support & Communication

Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers during shifts

Support drivers with issues such as route questions, delivery challenges, or documentation concerns

Reinforce safety expectations and elevate concerns (e.g., unsafe driving behaviors, delays, compliance issues)

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

Investigate and resolve delivery issues such as shortages, damages, missed deliveries, or delays

Identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels

Qualifications

2+ years of logistics, transportation, dispatch, or inventory control experience (building materials or similar industry preferred)

Experience with cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and warehouse inventory systems preferred

Strong understanding of delivery operations, routing, and freight coordination

Experience with retail delivery requirements (Home Depot or similar preferred)

Knowledge of DOT and ELD regulations is a plus

Proficiency in logistics software, GPS tracking systems (e.g., Samsara), and Microsoft Office

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
