Who We Are / About Our Family
We are a warm, busy family of four with two children, ages 4 and 6, and our beloved 14‑year‑old chihuahua. Both kids attend daycare, with the oldest excited to start kindergarten this fall. One parent works in an office, while the other works from home and values creating a collaborative relationship with a house manager to ensure support and smooth communication. Our goal is to find someone who can help manage the details of daily life—inventory management, meal prep, organization, and general household support—allowing us more mental space to focus on our careers and spend quality time together as a family.
We’re looking for a highly detail‑oriented individual who can keep our routines running smoothly and proactively manage tasks. While this isn’t a childcare‑focused role, we would love someone who enjoys working with children and is comfortable providing backup care when school is closed or for occasional date‑night sitting. Ultimately, we’re seeking an experienced house manager who is excited to grow with us and become an integral part of our family’s evolving needs.
Who You Are / What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a highly organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic household. You take pride in keeping things in order and are comfortable with a variety of tasks, from organizing home systems to running errands and managing household logistics. You are tech‑savvy and familiar with tools like Google Docs, reminders apps, and shared task lists, and you’re eager to learn new systems if needed.
You are self‑sufficient and confident in your decision‑making, with strong judgment and the ability to make common‑sense calls. We want someone who is comfortable managing their own priorities and collaborating with us on the ever‑changing flow of tasks. Our priorities shift from week to week, and you should be someone who enjoys collaborating with the family to ensure everything is done effectively and efficiently.
You’ll enjoy working in a home with young children and be open to providing backup care when necessary, such as during school closures or on date nights. While childcare is not the main focus of the role, we want someone who is relationship‑mindful and enjoys spending time with kids.
You are a team player who values clear communication and mutual respect, and you’re excited about helping to maintain a well‑run home that allows the family to spend more time together.
Key Responsibilities:
Household Management & Organization
Create and maintain household organization systems (e.g. closets, storage, pantry, toys) that are easy and predictable for kids and parents to sustain
Reset and tidy rooms daily: maintain overall neatness, load/unload dishwasher, empty trash, wipe surfaces, vacuum/mop high traffic areas, and ensure home is prepped for bi‑weekly Friday cleaning services
Maintain indoor plants
Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and organized weekly
Inventory Management & Errands
Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
Proactively distribute supplies to appropriate locations throughout the house (e.g. toilet paper and refilling soap dispensers)
Create and manage running shared household supply lists
Coordinate and manage household orders, including monitoring and managing the timing of subscribe and save orders to ensure necessities (e.g. pull‑ups) are restocked before running out
Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, gift shopping, etc.
Meal Planning & Preparation
Process produce (wash, cut, and store) for snacking
Prepare items for dinner preparation (e.g. mincing garlic, chopping vegetables) and morning omelettes
Follow dietary needs and family preferences, which include preparing nut‑free (sunbutter) sandwiches for daycare and lactose‑free milk
Shop for groceries and meal‑related items
Clean kitchen post‑prep and manage kitchen tidiness
Laundry & Linen Care
Wash, dry, fold, organize, and put away family laundry
Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
Keep laundry areas tidy and well‑stocked with supplies
Handle special care for delicates
Prepare school uniforms for the week ahead
Pet Care
Feed dog and administer medication daily in the morning
Keep pet supplies stocked and organized
Vendor & Property Oversight
Oversee outdoor fruit planters and manage watering schedule
Tidy outdoor spaces, ensuring that kids’ toys are routinely put away and neatly stored and out of the way of lawn service
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
Manage and maintain shoe storage bench organization, ensuring all shoes and socks are in the correct location
Sanitize humidifiers every two weeks and refill with water daily
Family Support & Child Assistance
Provide backup childcare as needed
Opportunities for occasional date night sitting will be available on weekends
Monthly Tasks
Scan, upload, name, and organize receipts for digital file storage
Shred papers as requested
Own rotation and organization system for kids’ toys and books, cycling through often to ensure items are engaged with and books are read
Schedule and coordinate grooming appointments
Quarterly Tasks
Conduct seasonal clothing swaps as weather changes and/or kids outgrow clothing
Maintain air purifiers throughout the house (e.g. clean, change filters, and order filters as needed)
Deep clean refrigerator, sanitizing all surfaces and removing any expired goods
Prepare and coordinate donation drop offs and proactively flag kids’ upcoming clothing needs as sizes change
Prepare for guest stays by sanitizing, breaking down, and storing home gym equipment and setting up guest bed and desk
Supervise or coordinate with service providers for small projects (e.g. knife sharpening service)
