Teacher of Cosmetology – 2026‑2027 School Year – Pennsauken Campus
Position Type:

Full‑Time 10‑month position.

Salary:

$58,656–$92,982, based on education, experience, and/or military service.

Qualifications

Valid New Jersey Teacher of Cosmetology and Hairstyling Certificate (#4138).

Experience in Cosmetology required.

Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.

Thorough knowledge of Industry Standards and/or New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

Thorough knowledge and familiarity with instructional technologies.

Ability to maintain a safe, secure and caring learning environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to communicate with parents/guardians.

Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Meet the health qualifications required of all personnel.

Meet NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ within 365 days of employment.

Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools' Nepotism Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

Responsibilities

Preparation:

Select materials, resources, and technologies that support instructional goals and student learning.

Develop lesson plans that meet school and district standards for format, differentiation, clear expectations, and rigor.

Plan connections to New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards or Career Competencies and district curriculum.

Recognize and build on prerequisite skills for new learning; provide content connections to deepen knowledge.

Adjust instructional plans and goals based on student achievement and assessments.

Use Individualized Education Program (IEP) when prescribed.

Instruction:

Communicate clear goals and learning outcomes; assess with written, verbal, or authentic assessments.

Maintain positive communication and encouragement.

Organize tasks so students work independently or productively engaged.

Prepare students to take responsibility for materials; routines are seamless.

Collaborate with inclusion teachers and technicians on planning and operation.

Show thorough understanding of content‑specific instructional practices.

Give clear directions and establish expectations.

Apply rigorous questioning strategies to encourage reasoning.

Promote inquiry, investigation, and discussion of critical questions.

Vary pacing, ensuring consistency and differentiation.

Use multiple strategies to address student questions and sustain interest.

Set high expectations for all students, demonstrating belief that all will meet goals.

Respond to misbehavior appropriately, without escalating.

Maintain accurate non‑instructional records.

Use assessment data to plan individualized instruction.

Report safety violations to principal.

Continue professional growth through development activities and implement recommendations.

Remediate recommendations from observations.

Collaborate with peers to share resources and best practices.

Provide career guidance and use community resources.

Communicate with parents/guardians via email, phone, or face‑to‑face meetings.

Monitor student progress indicators and compare to district and state averages.

Analyze data to maximize achievement.

Maintain log of professional development hours.

Fulfill the annual Professional Development Plan.

Enforce school rules, regulations, and board policy.

Maintain electronic data system: lesson plans, attendance, grades, and classroom website.

Demonstrate competencies on observation sheets.

Teach only approved curriculum for certified area.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Supervisor assigned per the CCTS Organizational Chart.
