
Roughing Pump and Abatement Technician

Job Summary
The Roughing Pump and Abatement Technician is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of roughing pumps and associated vacuum systems used in semiconductor manufacturing. This role ensures optimal pump performance, minimizes downtime, and supports production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) on rough pumps and abatement systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues related to pumps and the abatement systems.
Disassemble, clean, and rebuild the exhaust system.
Replace worn or damaged components such as seals, bearings, and gaskets.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve equipment-related issues.
Monitor pump performance and recommend improvements or upgrades.
Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools required for pump servicing.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in vacuum pump maintenance or related mechanical/electrical field.
Strong understanding of vacuum technology and pump operation principles.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in cleanroom or industrial environments.
Standing, bending, and working in confined spaces as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Knowledge of different pump types (dry pumps, rotary vane, scroll pumps).
Familiar with Ebara pumps and Abatement systems.
