About the Role
ACV Auctions is looking for an enthusiastic Inspector who loves cars and wants to join a growing company. Inspectors are the face of the company, explaining vehicle details to clients in an accessible way while ensuring the highest standards of trust, transparency, and customer service.
Responsibilities
Support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Conduct inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off‑lease locations, identifying damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues.
Prepare and submit condition reports, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
Assist the sales team with up‑sell or cross‑sell services and products.
Interact regularly with dealers to build strong relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
Travel to dealerships and homes to inspect vehicles, write condition reports, and list vehicles on the auction platform.
Capture and process photos of each vehicle for the image server using the company‑issued smartphone.
List inspected wholesale vehicles on ACV Auctions for bidding and purchasing.
Sign up independent dealerships as buyers on the ACV Auctions platform.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1 year of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, mechanical repair) with a customer‑service background.
Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
Problem‑solving aptitude and resourcefulness.
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills and customer‑focused mindset.
Valid driver’s license and use of a registered, insured vehicle.
Knowledge of relevant software packages and web‑based applications.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift over 25 lb, bend, and squat.
Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.
Vision acuity sufficient to detect small defects around and beneath vehicles.
