Lead Electrical Engineer
We are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our hardware team working on future wearables and accessory devices reporting directly to the Director of Hardware. This opportunity will be hybrid to either San Diego or San Francisco.

What You will do:

System design and development including electrical architecture, system integration, and new technology development.

Drive miniaturization and ultra‑low power operation through custom hardware development, power modeling, and hardware/software optimization.

Collaborate with software, mechanical engineering, RF engineering, and vendors to solve complex technical problems.

Develop and manage system performance and validation plans around EMI/ESD, coexistence, and reliability.

Work with leadership to help define and refine product roadmaps and timelines.

Requirements:

Project Experience : 10+ years of experience designing and shipping high volume consumer electronics products as a HW Engineer or Architect, who loves working on highly creative, fast‑paced, and collaborative teams. Experience working with ultra‑low power microprocessors, SoCs, MEMS sensors, wireless technologies, and state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing capabilities. Connected wearables and optical sensing experience preferred.

System Design : Experience designing and validating analog and digital systems, including component selection, system architecture, and signal processing. Extremely familiar with compute blocks (CPUs, NPUs, DSPs, ISPs) and communication protocols (UART, I2C, MIPI, SPI, and others). Size and Power Optimization: Experience with silicon definition and customization, designing for low power operation, power modeling, and understanding of end‑to‑end system operation.

Performance and Quality : High bar for quality, and extensive experience with identifying performance and reliability risks and proactively validating the design.

Problem‑Solving and Analytical Skills : Comfortable with the unknown, the ambiguous, and strive to make engineering challenges a reality through creativity.

Driven, Technical Leadership : Able to drive tasks independently, act as a leader and mentor across multiple organizations, organize, elevate and communicate issues and needs clearly.

Communication and Collaboration Skills : Effective communication and collaboration skills are important. Be able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders, work with other engineers and designers, and contribute to project planning and documentation.

Oura takes a market‑based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Region 1 (SF): $198,050 - $233,000

Region 2 (SD): $180,200 - $212,000

Region 3: $169,150 - $199,000
