Respiratory Therapist
This is a 13‑week contract position.
Schedule
Night shift - 3x12.0 hours.
Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by offering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. This role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures and treatments to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine treatments using ventilatory equipment, oxygen, and aerosol devices to administer prescribed medications.
Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
Monitor and perform oximetry and capnography according to policy.
Review patient's chest x‑rays to evaluate their condition.
Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist in procedures related to respiratory care.
Provide tracheostomy care and insert/remove tracheostomy tubes as needed.
Perform arterial punctures and determine ventilation efficiency; record and report test results.
Engage in cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
Maintain accurate charging information and document all pertinent treatments and patient responses.
Communicate effectively with physicians on the efficiency of therapy administered.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of respiratory therapy equipment.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Current Respiratory Therapy license.
Certification in BLS and ACLS.
Experience with ventilatory equipment and respiratory care procedures.
