Come and join our team! The Vermont Department of Health's St. Alban's District Office has an opening for a dynamic Nutrition Assistant to complement our professional team. This position is an opportunity to work with clients and community partners in direct support of the Women Infants and Children (WIC) program. This is a nutrition education and clerical position that advances our mission: To protect and promote the best health for all Vermonters. The successful candidate will provide certification services, resolve nutrition‑related questions, support enrollment and retention of WIC participants, and participate in office initiatives such as lead screening and emergency preparedness.
Work one on one with WIC participants by providing certification services
Use problem‑solving skills to resolve nutrition‑related questions from participants and community partners
Provide clerical duties that support the enrollment and retention of WIC participants
Participate in office initiatives such as lead screening and emergency preparedness
Travel to outlying sites may be required, including occasional statewide training and service in difficult weather conditions. The role may involve serving in public health emergencies such as floods or infectious disease outbreaks.

Candidates must pass all applicable background investigations, including criminal record checks, DMV checks, and adult/child abuse registry checks as required by AHS Policy 4.02.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a health related field OR two (2) years of experience in a health related environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Degree in nutrition or health, education, or a human services field.
Experience in a health or nutrition related community setting.
