Job Description
For the 2026-2027 School Year.
Must have KY School Guidance Certification.
Performance Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the guidance program of the school.
Supervise student records including cumulative folder development and maintenance, new student registration and student withdrawal process as requested by the principal.
Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, the school principal and the family resource center director in reducing barriers to learning.
Coordinate and implement the RTI Model adopted by the school district.
In corporation with the district assessment coordinator, analyze, collate and interpret assessment results to provide information for needs assessment, curriculum improvement and evaluation of the instructional program of the district.
Administer individual and group educational tests as requested.
Assist in the preparation, scoring and recording of test data to include needs assessment data utilized in the development of the school and district comprehensive improvement planning.
Coordinate and implement school-based leadership and career exploration opportunities for pupils.
Coordinate student referrals for special program services to include referrals to external agencies as appropriate.
Conduct small group counseling sessions as needed.
Conduct class and large group guidance sessions consistent with the approved district guidance curriculum.
Provide individual student guidance services as needed.
Attend district level counselor meetings as scheduled.
Coordinate the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) development process for grades 6-12.
Coordinate scheduling for grades 6-12.
Serve as Admission and Release Committee Chairperson as directed by the Building Principal.
Participate in all scheduled extra duties assigned by the school principal to the total professional staff.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Adhere to the professional Codes of Ethics adopted by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
Administer health services to students as necessary including, but not limited to, the administration of medication; the operation, maintenance, or health care through the use of medical equipment; or the administration of clinical procedures.
Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.
Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Principal, Administrative Staff, or Superintendent of Schools.
