Computational Research Scientist

Overview
The DeKosky Laboratory for Immune Engineering and Drug Discovery is hiring a postdoctoral researcher to advance computational drug design and discovery, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques.

The role focuses on computational aspects of immune repertoire analyses of antibody functional screening data to develop rapid machine-learning-based antibody drug design methods and new antibody drug products.

Responsibilities
In consultation with the Principal Investigator (PI), the scientist will:

Create and execute a program of scientific study culminating in publication.

Lead research projects and determine the course of research through leadership and acquisition of funding or other recognition.

Assist the PI in training and supervising other laboratory personnel and perform a wide variety of administrative tasks as necessary.

Essential Functions

Make proficient intellectual contributions to scientific strategies of the group/lab and act as a subject-matter authority.

Contribute to the design and execution of experiments and/or research projects.

Exercise judgment in selecting methods and technologies to obtain results.

Collaborate with external researchers and/or receive external project funding support.

Present results and prepare publications.

Assist the PI in training and supervising other staff.

Preferred Qualifications

MD or PhD with minimum two years of post-degree research experience in immunology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics, microbiology or a related field.

Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) and bioinformatic analysis.

Experience with protein display technologies and antibody engineering.

Laboratory research supported by funding from NIH, Department of Defense, Gates Foundation and private industry.

Job Details
Salary: $80,000 - $108,000 annually (base pay).

Qualifications

Doctorate in a related field.

Previous research experience (inclusive of graduate and postdoctoral experience) 5-7 years required.

Excellent research skills.

Demonstrated evidence of specific scientific competence in the field.

Broad knowledge of the field.

Potential for scientific creativity and original thought.

Independent judgment and leadership.

Ability to contribute to publications.
