ROLE SUMMARY

Master Electrician must be a skilled craftsman with at least a two‑year technical degree or trade‑school equivalency, and a minimum of three years of practical experience as a Master Electrician in an industrial/commercial environment. A State of Michigan Master license is required. In addition to leading site electrical work, the candidate will also serve as a member of the Medium Voltage team, responsible for the operation and maintenance of the site’s medium voltage (480 V – 13,200 V) electrical distribution system.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

MASTER ELECTRICIAN (50%)

Serve as the Pfizer Kalamazoo Master Electrician of Record with the State of Michigan.
Apply for electrical permits on behalf of Pfizer Kalamazoo.
Inspect electrical work performed by Pfizer employees to ensure compliance with the National Electric Code.
Coordinate inspection visits with state and local inspectors.
Support, review, and develop National Electric Code training programs on site, including coordinating update classes for Michigan license holders, reviewing apprenticeship curricula, and addressing other training needs.
Provide electrical SME support to the site on an as‑needed basis.
Review work hours and attest for Pfizer Electrical Apprentice and Journeyman hours to allow for state licensing testing.
Assist with Pfizer’s Electrical Apprenticeship program.
Develop and maintain a database of Pfizer employee electrical licensing.
Coordinate and facilitate monthly site Electrician meetings.
MEDIUM VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN (50%)

Operate and maintain the site’s medium voltage (480 V – 13,200 V) electrical distribution system, including substations, breakers, motor controls, high‑voltage cable, and distribution pole lines.
Perform preventive maintenance, modifications, installs, and maintenance of company medium‑power distribution systems in compliance with company standards, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Serve as a subject‑matter‑expert advisor in engineering areas such as process design, equipment selection, documentation, calibration, testing, and problem‑solving methodology.
Work variable shifts and 24‑hour on‑call as required, and collaborate effectively within a high‑performing team.
Apply knowledge of industry practices and standards, problem‑solving, and innovation to develop solutions within Pfizer policies and procedures.
Operate with minimal supervision, exercising discretion, latitude, and independence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED plus an associate degree or relevant trade‑school equivalency.
State of Michigan Electrical Master license.
Minimum of three years of work experience as a Master Electrician in an industrial/commercial environment, with medium‑voltage experience preferred.
Self‑starter ability to work independently.
Strong work ethic and ambition to excel.
Leadership and project management skills.
Ability to read drawings and electrical diagrams.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Excellent computer skills (Microsoft systems).
Excellent communication skills.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Routinely exposed to hazardous materials, heights, temperature extremes, moving equipment, noisy, dusty, and dirty conditions; requires stooping, bending, and heavy lifting.
NON‑STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

May work variable shifts and 24‑hour on‑call as required.
BENEFITS

Compensation ranges from $34.39 to $57.32 per hour, with eligibility for overtime, weekend, holiday, and other pay premiums. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with Pfizer matching contributions and an additional retirement savings contribution, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits covering medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and eligibility.
