Job Description
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Nursing Management, assists the Nursing Team in provision of a safe and clean environment and overall positive patient experience.
Every other weekend and holidays
Responsibilities
Administers nursing care to assigned patients under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Provides hygienic care to assigned patients and assists with activities of daily living.
Reports observations and unusual conditions of patients to RN, e.g. alteration in comfort, skin integrity, alterations in breathing pattern, etc.
Communicates routine information to RN periodically during shift; e.g., intake and output.
Prepares patients for meals and helps feed them, as assigned.
Provides constant observation over patients requiring increased security to prevent harmful behavior.
Carefully assists patients to wheelchair or stretcher.
Transports patients, via wheelchairs or stretchers, or accompanies patients as required.
Toilets patients as necessary.
Bathes or assists patient to bathe, provides oral hygiene.
Follows infection control and patient safety policies and procedures.
Obtains specimens, such as urine, stool and sputum.
Maintains patient care unit in a neat and orderly condition.
Maintains a safe and clean environment in assigned areas.
Washes equipment and ensures work areas are clean.
Cleans, changes and makes beds/stretchers.
Replenishes supplies as necessary.
Prepares rooms for new admissions and transfers.
Functions effectively within the organizational structure.
Reports to Head Nurse or designee and accepts assignments as given.
Participates as an integral part of the nursing team in assuming additional duties and responsibilities.
Maintains competence by attending in-service education programs.
Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Patient care or Housekeeping experience, preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively.
