
Patient Transporter
Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System Inc, Monroe, LA, United States
Performs a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients and equipment, greet and assist patients and visitors as directed.
Responsibilities
Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary, and support areas via wheelchair, stretcher or beds as requested.
Includes transport of patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, and special equipment.
Assists in transferring patients to/from beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers with assistance as needed.
During discharge assists patients in and out of vehicles and escorts or transports them to/from the hospital lobby.
Serves, as needed, as a member of the Hospital's Lift Team.
Indicates patient locations during transports through the use of HEV.
Responds to transport requests in a timely manner.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting on duty.
Lifts, pushes, and pulls up to 50 pounds with or without assistance; transfers, repositions patients.
Reaches, stoops, bends, kneels, and crouches for patient care functions.
Requires visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity for handling equipment and instruments.
Works effectively in a stressful, fast-paced environment.
Must pass all required health and screening tests.
Maintains a clean, neat, well-lit physical environment.
Subjected to potentially unpleasant sights, odors, stressful situations, and hazardous or infectious agents; must exercise judgment on precautions.
May experience climate control variances.
Exposed to limited hazardous chemicals or infectious disease processes.
Duty hours may be irregular or extended due to emergencies.
Direct contact with blood or body fluids requires universal precautions.
Personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience: Sufficient experience in a health care or health agency setting preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Must recognize patients’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age groups (pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged, geriatric), limitations, and planned procedures.
