
Full Time Staff Accountant

Lorain County Community College is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the College’s financial integrity and operational excellence. Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and the Controller/Budget Director, this full‑time position performs moderately complex accounting functions, supports financial reporting and analysis, and helps ensure the accuracy and reliability of the College’s financial records. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining effective financial processes across billing, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
Key Responsibilities
Billing and Revenue Recognition: Process billing transactions from multiple revenue streams and prepare accruals to ensure revenue is recognized accurately and in accordance with GAAP and institutional policies.
Accounts Receivable: Monitor accounts receivable aging, support collection efforts, and partner with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve outstanding balances and discrepancies.
General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and maintain thorough documentation to support audit readiness and financial accuracy.
Financial Reporting and Close: Assist in the month‑end and year‑end close processes, reconcile and resolve financial discrepancies, and support financial, grant, and other audits by compiling requested documentation while ensuring compliance with College and regulatory standards.
Cross‑Functional Support: Provide accounting support for grants and general accounting as required by institutional needs or special projects.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of three years of professional accounting experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (skills assessment required)
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience working with Oracle Cloud ERP or similar enterprise system
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non‑financial stakeholders
Starting from $53,400 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and established pay practices.
