Position Overview
The General Dentist provides comprehensive dental services including diagnosis, treatment planning, preventive care, restorative procedures, and patient education. This role supports improved oral health outcomes while ensuring compliance with all clinical, regulatory, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive oral evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning
Deliver preventive, restorative, and basic surgical dental procedures
Educate patients on oral hygiene, disease prevention, and treatment options
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
Collaborate with dental hygienists, assistants, and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow
Adhere to infection control, OSHA, and CDC guidelines
Participate in quality improvement and risk management initiatives
Support organizational goals related to access, quality, and patient satisfaction
Qualifications
DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
Active Virginia dental license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
DEA registration (or eligibility)
Current BLS certification
Strong clinical, diagnostic, and patient communication skills
Commitment to serving underserved and diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in community health, public health, or FQHC setting
Experience with electronic dental records (EDR) systems
