6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday
Responsibilities
Prepares and paints or varnishes interior or exterior building surfaces and allied equipment; mixes colors, as required; assists in hanging wallpaper.
Uses a variety of hand and power tools in construction, remodeling, or repairing doors, window frames, floors, cabinets, furniture or make concrete forms, as required.
Inspects, repairs, and installs a wide variety of electrical equipment, fixtures, and wiring.
Mixes and applies cement or plaster to floors, walls, ceilings; lays brick and tiles and finishes tile flooring; makes repairs to tile roofs, as required.
Supervises personnel assigned to assist in performing one or more of maintenance duties as required.
Installs and repairs roofing and siding; performs related mechanical operations.
Keeps working tools, equipment, and work area clean and in good condition.
Must satisfy Nassau County Civil Service Requirements Including:
Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in a variety of skilled trades.
Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in a variety of trades.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks.
Ability to direct personnel assigned to assist in performing maintenance tasks.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with associates.
Four years of satisfactory journey-level experience performing specialized building maintenance and/or repair activities.
