Job Overview

Direct Support Professional rate: $17.25–19.67 per hour.
Responsibilities
Assist individuals with daily living activities, including health and hygiene management, cooking, cleaning, recreation, and other personal care tasks.
Document shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress reports.
Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of the individuals we serve.
Walk, sit, stand, and lift as required; provide physical assistance and intervention techniques, up to 75–100 lbs., as necessary.
Operate within a well‑ventilated, adequately lighted area; use protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial masks, eyewear, and gowns when required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED (outside‑US diplomas must be evaluated).
At least one year of human services experience working with children, adolescents, or adults.
Age 21 or older.
Valid driver’s license.
Empathetic, energetic, team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of behavior management theories, positive reinforcement, and ability to serve as a positive role model.
Completion of required new‑hire orientation and a strong passion for helping individuals with special needs.
Capability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
Physical & Work Environment
Significant walking, sitting, and standing; occasional lifting of up to 75–100 lbs.
Repetitive wrist/hand movements; normal hearing and vision required.
Some use of computers and office equipment.
Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes.
Environment: indoor areas with adequate lighting, ventilation, and temperature control; exposure to blood‑borne pathogens may occur.
