Job Title: Nurse Clinical/UKHC/TRAUMA 7.200 ICU / 7P (Grade 10)
Location: Lexington, KY
Salary: $28.00‑$39.10 per hour
Employment Type: Full‑time, Staff
Shift: Three 12‑hour night shifts (7 PM‑7:30 AM) plus occasional weekends and holidays; 36 hours per week.
Job Summary
The primary responsibilities include: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing plans of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for nursing care technicians; adhering to university policies, federal, state, and local regulations; collaborating with nursing staff and physicians to improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Required:
Active Kentucky registered nurse (RN) license (or temporary work permit, provisional, or active compact state RN license)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification valid at least 6 months after employment
ADN education (BSN preferable; 1 year RN experience preferred)
Preferred:
BSN and at least 1 year of RN experience
Physical Requirements
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; standing, walking, sitting for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.
Skills & Knowledge
Familiarity with Maslow’s 8 basic human needs, Gordon’s functional health patterns, and Swanson’s caring model
Direct patient care and critical thinking skills
Basic computer navigation and internet use
Professional communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians
Strong organization, prioritization, and delegation skills
Capability to work independently and as part of a team
