Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Counselor will provide direct clinical counseling to help children and families deal with various personal, social, and mental health issues, such as depression, unemployment, domestic abuse, and illness, through individual and family counseling. This individual will work closely with providers to offer patients and families a comprehensive mental health evaluation and treatment plan. The BHC will provide timely and effective support to patients facing mental health emergencies using evidence‑based screening tools, risk assessments, and clinical interventions for children and adolescents. The BHC will help patients cope with suicidal behaviors by safety planning, minimizing stressors, offering emotional support, and improving coping strategies during crisis situations.
Responsibilities
Provide direct clinical counseling to children and families.
Conduct individual and family counseling sessions.
Collaborate with providers to develop comprehensive mental health evaluation and treatment plans.
Offer timely support during mental health emergencies with evidence‑based tools.
Assist patients with suicidal behaviors through safety planning and coping strategies.
Qualifications
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) at time of hire.
Required education: MSW for LCSW; MS for LPCC, LCDAC, or LMFT (no equivalency).
Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
Preferred: experience working with patients with developmental disabilities; prior experience providing clinical mental health assessments, counseling, case management and/or social services.

Location: Lexington, KY
Type: Full‑Time (Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm)
Physical Requirements: Regular sitting, standing, walking, with occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
