As a Dental Assistant II, you’ll be a key player in a vibrant teaching clinic, working closely with students, residents, and faculty to create a smooth, safe, and welcoming experience for every student and patient.
What You’ll Do
Operatory & Equipment Care
Prepare, clean, and disinfect operatories before and after each appointment.
Maintain dental equipment, handpieces, and operatory readiness, reporting issues promptly.
Sterilization & Infection Control
Clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments according to infection control standards.
Ensure proper disposal of needles, carpules, and regulated materials.
Inventory & Clinical Operations
Stock and restock supplies, instruments, and materials in operatories and labs.
Dispense instruments throughout the day and track items loaned to students and faculty.
Clinical & Patient Support
Provide chairside assistance during a variety of dental procedures, record oral conditions, medical/dental histories, and vital signs.
Prepare patients for treatment and escort them throughout the clinic, including radiology.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Any one of the following categories below:
Six (6 months) of work experience in dental assisting comparable to that performed at the Dental Assistant I level of this series.
Graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting School.
Current Certification as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) by the Dental Assisting National Board, if required by the employing institution.
This person will have in-depth knowledge and/or experience in assisting in general dentistry. Thorough understanding of the disinfecting and sterilization of instruments and equipment and the preparation of treatment trays. Must be able to operate a computer in order to work in the clinical management software on a daily basis. Must have thorough knowledge and understand how to enter treatment information in patient charts. Must know how to properly expose and develop radiographs. Must know the instruments, equipment, materials and techniques used in general dentistry in order to participate in four‑hand sit down dentistry in the clinic.
