Sheet Metal Mechanic
Job Description
This role focuses on installing HVAC ductwork on commercial projects across the state. You will use your sheet metal expertise to install, assemble, and secure duct systems that meet project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

Install HVAC ductwork for commercial projects according to blueprints, specifications, and job requirements.

Measure, cut, and assemble sheet metal components for duct systems using appropriate tools and equipment.

Fit, align, and secure ducts, fittings, and related components to ensure proper airflow and system performance.

Inspect completed duct installations to confirm quality, accuracy, and compliance with mechanical codes and standards.

Collaborate with other trades and team members on-site to coordinate installation activities and meet project deadlines.

Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools, materials, and equipment safely and responsibly.

Follow all safety procedures and site regulations while working on commercial job sites throughout the state.

Essential Skills

Proven experience installing HVAC ductwork on commercial projects.

Hands‑on experience with duct installation, including layout, assembly, and fastening.

Strong sheet metal skills, including measuring, cutting, and forming components.

Ability to read and follow basic construction drawings or layout instructions.

Solid understanding of safe work practices on active construction sites.

Capability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, field‑based environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience working on multiple commercial job sites.

Familiarity with common hand and power tools used in sheet metal and duct installation.

Ability to work both independently and as part of an installation crew.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Reliable transportation to travel to various job locations within the state.

Work Environment
This is a field‑based role on commercial construction sites throughout the state. You will work primarily with HVAC duct systems and sheet metal materials, using standard hand and power tools for cutting, forming, and fastening. The work involves standing, bending, lifting, and working at heights or on ladders as required by the installation. Hours typically follow standard construction schedules and may vary by project and location. You will be expected to wear appropriate work attire and any required personal protective equipment in accordance with site safety rules.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jersey City, NJ.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
