Position Summary
The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a motivated, dynamic Senior Registered Nurse Supervisor to lead nursing services at the Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans' Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, FL. The position includes overseeing quality professional care, staffing, compliance with regulations, and ensuring residents receive the highest standard of nursing care.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience providing nursing services in a long‑term health care environment (nursing home, skilled nursing, or assisted living facility).
At least one year of supervisory experience.
Experience working with Electronic Medical Records.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Successful completion of a Level II background check and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Matrix Care.
Experience in staff development and conduction of in‑service training.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Position Description
The incumbent is responsible for providing quality professional care to veteran residents in accordance with agency SOPs and the Nurse Practice Act. Responsibilities include:
Initial and ongoing assessment of the resident population.
Administration of medications and treatments per MD order.
Monitoring and providing interventions to meet resident needs.
Accurate clinical documentation reflecting resident status.
Supervision and guidance of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other allied health professionals.
Planning and maintaining shift assignments to meet residents' care needs.
Attendance to emergency situations, rounds, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Time‑sheet and payroll accuracy; disciplinary actions per FDVA policy.
Verifying verbal orders, including telephone orders from attending physicians.
Assisting Nursing Program Specialist with assessment completion and Care Plan meetings.
Participation in economic utilization of supplies, equipment maintenance, and emergency measures.
Participation in census, customer satisfaction, continuing education, quality improvement programs.
Performing other related duties and special projects as assigned.
