Job Description
Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. Ensures medical facilities run smoothly, and works in a clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity, and may be asked to perform more specialized tasks.

Principal Accountabilities

Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.

Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.

Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.

Taking vital signs: Typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams.

Assisting with examinations: Working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.

Collecting and preparing laboratory samples: Instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood.

Excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability to working in fast‑paced environment, and hold upmost professionalism at all times. Strong written and communication skills.

Greeting patients: Welcoming patients to the facility and scheduling appointments: Organizing appointments for patients.

Maintaining medical records: Recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.

Cleaning patient rooms: Sanitizing and reorganizing patient rooms between visits.

Prepping examination rooms: Ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies.

Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.

Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

National Certification CCMA from NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.

Precertification agreement must be signed if expired or receiving certification within 60 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.

1 year of experience in Health Care services.

2+ years Experience in outpatient, ambulatory setting.

Excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability to working in fast‑paced environment, and hold upmost professionalism at all times.

BLS upon hire.

EPIC or similar EMR system.

Ability to work within computer systems.
