Position
Safety Watch Monitor – Easterling Correctional Facility, Clio, Alabama (open exclusively to current ADOC employees).
Job Overview
As a Correctional Safety Watch Monitor you work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals who provide care to the individuals in residence. You will operate within a controlled environment where security is paramount, performing a wide range of duties to ensure patient safety and support care teams.
Responsibilities
Conduct one‑on‑one, direct observation of patients at risk of self‑injury or suicide.
Under the supervision of a licensed behavioral health professional, perform observational rounds on suicide watch and in select behavioral health settings.
Accurately document and communicate observations of patients on suicide watch or housed in behavioral health units.
Perform crisis intervention and de‑escalation as indicated.
Monitor patients and promote prosocial behavior.
Participate in unit treatment team planning.
Document critical incidents and treatment progress in the patient’s medical record at the discretion of the supervisor.
Attend unit morning report and regular unit staff meetings.
Facilitate community meetings when required.
Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to effectively interact with institutional and clinical staff.
Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirement.
Background check, security clearance, and drug screening are required for this role.
Physical Capabilities
Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
