Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist for a 13‑week travel assignment in Saint Joseph, Missouri, to make a positive impact on patients while enjoying competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the support of a dedicated clinical team.

Required Qualifications

Valid Speech Language Pathologist License in compliance with state regulations.

Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology.

Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology.

Speech‑Language Pathology experience (new graduates also welcome).

Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position.

Summary
The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. In a variety of settings, the SLP develops and implements individualized treatment plans to enhance speech, language, and cognitive‑communication abilities, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to improve communication outcomes and quality of life.

Essential Work Functions

Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observation to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population.

Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and evidence‑based practices.

Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.

Educate patients, families, and caregivers on effective communication strategies, home‑based exercises, and safe swallowing practices, offering supportive counseling as required.

Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate a comprehensive approach to patient care.

Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patient comfort during therapy sessions.

Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in speech‑language therapy.

Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

Required Essential Skills

Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.

Proficiency in PC skills.

Physical Abilities

Must be able to remain stationary, move about, move equipment 50‑100 lbs, push, pull, and bend.

Interpersonal Skills

Must work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) and present a positive attitude and professionalism.

Technical/Motor Skills

Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.

Mental Requirements

Must cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.

Work under close supervision occasionally; also work independently.

Handle irregular activity schedules and maintain continuous concentration to detail.

Sensory Requirements

Must possess visual acuity and effective communication ability.
