Lawyers on Demand, a Consilio company is actively recruiting for a temporary Certified Paralegal for an onsite position for a law firm client in Houston, TX. This could become temporary-to-hire for the right candidate.

Pay rate:
$30 - $33/hour, depending on experience
Responsibilities
Prepare, assemble, and file pleadings and supporting documents in state and/or federal courts.
Manage e‑filing through relevant platforms (e.g., CM/ECF, state e‑filing portals) and ensure acceptance/confirmation.
Coordinate service of process and maintain proof of service documentation.
Maintain attorney calendars and docket deadlines (statutes, court rules, local procedures).
Schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, client meetings, and internal case deadlines.
Track and update deadlines following court orders, stipulations, and notices.
Draft and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, notices, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses, deposition notices and summaries, correspondence, and trial binders.
Proofread for accuracy, citation consistency, and court‑compliant formatting.
Conduct legal and factual research (case law, statutes, court rules) and provide concise summaries.
Retrieve docket information, filings, and case documents from court systems and databases.
Assist with trial preparation including exhibit lists, witness lists, pretrial filings, and courtroom logistics.
Organize case files (electronic and physical), discovery materials, and document productions.
Support document review, indexing, and privilege log preparation.
Qualifications
Certified Paralegal required (NALA, NFPA, or equivalent certification).
Litigation paralegal experience with demonstrable work in court filing/e‑filing, calendaring and deadline tracking, drafting and formatting legal documents, research and trial preparation.
Strong knowledge of court rules, filing requirements, and litigation deadlines.
High proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel) and document management practices.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
Experience with both state and federal court filings.
Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Relativity (or similar), and case management software (Clio, iManage, NetDocuments, PracticePanther).
Experience preparing discovery and supporting depositions, mediations, and trials in fast‑paced matters.
Maintain accurate docket control and proactive deadline management.
File documents correctly on the first submission with minimal rejections or deficiencies.
Deliver drafts and trial prep materials with strong formatting, completeness, and timeliness.
Communicate clearly regarding status, risks, and timeline changes.
