Position Summary
Technical Supervisor - Radiology (Monday–Friday: 4pm–12am) – Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The successful candidate will oversee lead technologists and regulate patient flow within and out of the department, and manage administrative, information, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, clinical performance, and operational functions of all patient care sections of the department. Serves as a leader and role model for Radiology employees and collaborates with the Radiology management team.
Job Responsibilities
Monitor flow, care, and safety of patients to ensure compliance with department procedures.
Approve scheduling procedures, optimize exam scheduling to maximize staff and facilities use, and prioritize patient schedules when necessary.
Maintain professionalism in technical activities and establish standards of technical excellence in each section.
Review diagnostic testing procedures for quality and consistency with physician requests; correct errors to ensure patient safety and well-being.
Use audit results, quality assurance reports, and incident reports to improve service quality.
Keep policies and procedures up to date and easily accessible to staff.
Perform related duties as assigned and act in the absence of Technical Manager(s).
Collaborate with the Radiology management team to plan, organize, develop, and implement department directives.
Coordinate with the Assistant Director, Section Chiefs, nursing directors, radiology management team, technologists, radiology nurses, and support personnel.
Oversee evaluation of products, supplies, space, and imaging equipment; develop inventory control systems for films, solutions, cassettes, and operations; assess equipment condition and make recommendations for replacement or upgrades.
Assist in long-range planning for new equipment and evaluation of new equipment; provide budgetary input for anticipated needs.
Ensure equipment maintenance per manufacturer specifications and maintain maintenance/repair records; approve service reports.
Participate in long-range department planning regarding equipment, space, and personnel; represent the department with outside vendors.
Initiate selection of quotes, purchases, repairs, and maintenance contracts to maintain efficiency and minimize costs.
Coordinate performance management of professional staff, including training, counseling, and monitoring job performance and professional growth.
Plan and direct orientation programs in line with medical center policies; ensure assignments are understood and followed up on to achieve desired outcomes.
Allocate resources to accomplish assignments and maintain high levels of technical skill among staff.
Oversee quality control, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance programs; inspect areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and infection control in line with policies.
Develop and maintain quality control programs for equipment and imaging systems; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and JCAHO standards; keep abreast of regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with appropriate departments and committees to ensure standards of care are met and coordinate with the Radiation Safety Officer on the department’s Radiation Safety Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology, Ultrasound, or Nuclear Medicine as appropriate.
New York State license in Radiologic Technology or Ultrasound.
Minimum of two years leadership and/or management experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
