Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Prior secretarial experience
Typing ability to meet or exceed 45 wpm, computer 65 wpm, dictation/shorthand 80 wpm
Job Goal
The secretary shall carry out all school related activities as directed by the Administrative Assistant. The secretary shall facilitate the efficient running of the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent's office.
Major Duties
Follow local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
Handle any and all correspondence of the designated administrator.
Answer phone calls and relay and record messages.
Keep a calendar of appointments.
Prepare reports as directed.
Prepare items for School Board meetings as directed.
Key in all necessary material electronically.
Maintain files of all materials as directed by the designated administrator.
Additional Requirements
This position requires the following:
Ability to work in variable environmental conditions related to temperature, humidity and other atmosphere conditions.
The ability to remain current in computer software processes and applications.
Ability to adjust to a frequent change of tasks and occasionally performing tasks simultaneously.
The ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
The ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge/Skills And Abilities
Ability to communicate in oral and written form in English.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow directives from the Superintendent and other cabinet members.
General Employee Requirements
Support and align work with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the district.
Follow and support board policies in areas of related responsibility.
Ensure district resources are managed effectively to maximize resources for student learning.
Share in the development and implementation of district success plans.
Actively participate in ongoing development to improve work quality and district contribution.
Model integrity, work ethic, and professionalism as a suitable example for LISD students.
