Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician at Tri-State Tree Services services and maintains our professional fleet of arboriculture equipment including hydraulic lifts, wood chippers, root grinding machines, and commercial diesel vehicles. This technical role demands proficiency in diesel powertrains, hydraulic systems, and specialized arboriculture machinery.
Key Responsibilities
Service & repair diesel powertrains, drive systems, braking components, and hydraulic assemblies.
Execute scheduled maintenance evaluations and urgent on-site repairs.
Complete diagnostic assessments and analyze findings for optimal solutions.
Road test and validate all serviced equipment for safety and operational standards.
Resolve complex electrical circuits, computerized management systems, and diagnostic applications.
Service specialized arboriculture equipment: hydraulic platforms, wood chippers, root grinders.
Execute powertrain rebuilds, transmission reconstructions, and hydraulic system overhauls.
Complete DOT evaluations and guarantee compliance with safety standards.
Document service histories and parts inventory records.
Procure and install replacement components for specialized machinery.
Organize workshop areas and manage tooling and diagnostic instruments.
Partner with field supervisors on equipment modifications.
Requirements
Essential Experience
3+ years diesel technician background with heavy machinery or commercial fleet experience.
Comprehensive understanding of diesel powertrains, electrical circuits, and hydraulic assemblies.
Expertise with diagnostic applications and computerized service equipment.
Current driver’s license with excellent driving history.
Capability to interpret technical documentation and wiring diagrams.
Core Skills
Superior analytical and troubleshooting capabilities under demanding conditions.
Background with mechanical and electrical power equipment.
Outstanding attention to precision and quality craftsmanship.
Strong communication and teamwork with field personnel and leadership.
Computer proficiency for diagnostic systems and documentation.
Physical capacity to handle heavy parts and operate in varying weather.
Preferred
Professional training in diesel technology or ASE certifications.
Arboriculture equipment background.
DOT evaluation certification.
Hydraulic system service experience.
Pre-Employment Requirements
This position requires successful completion of pre-employment screening, including background verification and motor vehicle record review. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of all required screenings.
Compensation
Competitive hourly compensation based on qualifications.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts.
