Overview
The Diet Aide performs a variety of tasks required within a food service operation, including daily maintenance of the dishroom, delivery and retrieval of patient carts from patient floors, and ensuring the dishroom stays clean and organized. They set up dish stations, operate dish machines and a three-compartment sink, and load/unload dishes, wash pots & pans, and scrape identifiers from all food-contact items. The Diet Aide is also responsible for removing garbage, mopping floors, and cleaning food service equipment.
The Diet Aide / Starter ensures patient tray assembly is completed accurately, safely, and timely throughout meal periods. The position prepares food items for patients per the recipe and assigned par levels and maintains excellent hand hygiene throughout the shift.
Qualifications
ANSI Accredited Food Handler Training within 30 days.
Responsibilities
Follow proper food rotation policies.
Deliver food carts, trays, and other items to designated areas.
Obtain food supplies for the next meal.
Set up work station with correct supplies and food items.
Assemble meal trays accurately using meal tickets and diet restrictions.
Return clean utensils to proper storage areas.
Collect and stack dirty dishes on cart and return cart to kitchen.
Place items such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays.
Assist in and/or direct scheduled cleaning duties.
Assemble patient food trays safely and accurately to diet order per patient tray ticket.
Clean equipment used on station according to County Health Department guidelines.
Prepare patient food items per recipe and assigned par levels.
Clean and maintain dish room, including mopping floors, loading/unloading dishes from the dish machine, and cleaning pots, pans, and patient service ware.
Maintain hand hygiene at all times throughout the scheduled shift.
Deliver and retrieve patient tray carts, and clean/sanitize patient tray carts.
Clean food service equipment located throughout the kitchen as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $15.39 to $24.93 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
