
Silicon Photonics Design Engineer in Irvine

Responsibilities
Interact with silicon‑photonic foundries, understand their process and PDK.
Device layout scripting and Design Rule Check.
Provide PIC test and characterization plan.
Conduct passive component design or, preferably, active component design work such as traveling‑wave modulator and Ge detectors.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or Master in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with emphasis on integrated photonics.
Familiar with photonic simulation software, e.g., Lumerical Enterprise.
Familiar with RF simulation tools such as HFSS (optional, plus).
Familiarity with TCAD tools such as Silvaco or Synopsys (optional, plus).
Familiar with time/frequency domain circuit simulation tools, e.g., ADS (optional, plus).
Direct experience in design flow and layout scripting, such as IPKISS or Matlab.
Tape‑out experience with at least one silicon photonics foundry and its PDK.
