Position Summary
The Program on Integrative Medicine (PIM) within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking qualified candidates for a Postdoctoral fellowship.
Responsibilities
Participation in a primary research project with Drs. Gaylord, Giscombe, Faurot, or other approved UNC faculty. See UNC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Complementary and Integrative Medicine for details of mentors.
Development of an original research area that aligns with ongoing research projects at the Program on Integrative Medicine or other UNC collaborations.
Attendance at Responsible Conduct of Research courses offered by the NC TraCS Institute.
Attendance at the fall semester course, Principles and Practices of Alternative and Complementary Medicine Course.
Attendance at the T-32 Fellows Weekly Seminar.
Creation of an individualized professional development plan (IDP) in collaboration with fellowship directors, with regular check-ins and progress reviews.
Coursework at UNC-Chapel Hill relevant to educational research needs (non-degree or degree coursework such as MPH or Master’s in Clinical Research).
Attendance at selected local and national seminars and conferences; presentation of research at least one national meeting per year and to groups within the university.
Submission of 3 manuscripts per year to peer-reviewed journals, with at least one first-authored manuscript.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
Applicants must possess a doctoral-level degree in a health-related field (e.g., MD, ND, Ph.D., DO, DC, DOM, PharmD, DPT, OTD, DNP). Trainees must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, or permanent residents.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
Commitment to a career in academic research on complementary, alternative, and integrative health modalities such as mind-body or nutrition interventions. Stated interest in a career involving academic research in these topics is needed.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
Prior research experience relating to complementary and integrative medicine is preferred.
