
Utility Billing Representative

The Utility Billing Representative provides water utility services to the City's citizens, including billing and the coordination of maintenance services.
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Maintain water utility billing system with connection accuracy verifications, final application reports, appropriate billing amounts, penalties, and cut-off dates.
Review invoices and archive copies prior to submitting to print vendor.
Oversee water utility services; verify payments for reconnection, monitor connections and disconnections of water service; provide daily meter readings and meter service work assignments.
Assist customers with billing inquiries and miscellaneous water utility issues; research accounts; review for service extensions and leak adjustments; calculate invoicing adjustments.
Complete monthly reports; balance customer accounts, maintain records, review work order complaints and correspond to customers in a prompt and professional manner.
Send correspondence to the general public and departmental personnel as needed.
Perform all related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED
At least three years of experience in customer service
One year of utility billing experience
Municipality experience preferred
Specialized training in billing preferred
Skill in:
Proficient using computers, data processing and other basic office equipment
Attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication
Basic math skills
Ability to:
Work in a fast-paced environment
