Associate Underwriter I

CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Underwriter I. In this role, you will support the Underwriter in quoting, issuing, and maintaining new and renewal business across Workers’ Compensation and/or Property & Casualty lines. You will take ownership of the overall process and workflow for assigned new and renewal accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a seamless experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare quotes based on set criteria/thresholds/revisions and instructions from Underwriting

Assist in reviewing quotes in rating system pre underwriting to ensure quality control for new and renewal business.

Solicit renewal information from broker/agency to include sending required pre‑renewal notifications.

Quality assurance of below throughout the lifecycle of the policy:

Loss information in account summary/Underwriting platform/system

Operations and exposures

Pricing

Premium Audits

Endorsements

Bind & Issue Policies

Post bind, complete necessary Underwriting notifications, bind reinsurance, track quote subjectivities and update various policy expiration activities including quotes that were not accepted for future new business pipelining.

Review endorsement transactions, cancellation requests and non‑renewals for forwarding to Underwriter or approval if within AU Guidelines.

Provide clear, timely and professional communication to agency personnel.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related discipline such as Marketing, Finance, Business.

Minimum 4 years of full‑time work experience in insurance can substitute for a degree on a year‑for‑year basis.

Knowledge and/or experience with commercial lines of insurance (Property, GL, Umbrella & Auto Lines is a plus), including classification and experience rating.

Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Excellent customer service and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Ability to multi‑task, prioritize workload and problem‑solve.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Must be able to partner effectively with Underwriters.

Successful in a fast‑paced environment and adaptable to change.

We provide some benefits at no cost to the employee (Basic Life Insurance and AD&D at two times an employee’s annual salary, Short‑ and Long‑term Disability coverage, and Employee Assistant Plan).

Employees will accrue 0.0692 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 18 days a year. In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

Salary Range

$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 annually

Compensation may vary dependent on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.

In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
