Overview
Position Summary
Executes tasks at the journey level, encompassing the maintenance, repair, and modification of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration systems within Pueblo County Facilities. This includes servicing cooling and heating units, cooling towers, pumps, fans, filters, and other mechanical components.
What You Will Do
Performs installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration units.
Travels independently to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of various mechanical systems such as forced air furnaces, split system cooling, mini splits, packaged units, air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, and more.
Performs recovery, pressure testing, dehydration, and charging of refrigerant systems.
Performs maintenance, repair, and installation on boiler systems, pumps, burner assemblies, ignition controls, and safety components.
Conducts inspections of HVAC/R systems to determine essential maintenance and repairs. Recommends suitable options for replacing, repairing, or enhancing HVAC equipment or systems. Provides detailed estimates of time and materials for various projects and maintains comprehensive records of costs incurred.
Ensures effective water treatment through appropriate chemical applications.
Replaces pump couplings, motor bearings, belt sheaves, and belts.
Maintains maintenance records and logs to ensure compliance with State and Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
Education
High School Diploma or GED Equivalency required.
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years or more working with Commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Systems required.
Minimum of three (3) years or more experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems, troubleshooting controls, and low-voltage systems required.
License and Certification
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 Universal Certification obtained from ESCO Institute or a private organization approved by the EPA required.
Mechanical Class C License obtained from the International Code Council and the Local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) preferred.
Valid Driver's License upon the date of hire required.
Special Requirements
Must successfully pass a background check.
Must successfully pass a conditional post-offer physical examination.
