Administrative Intern – Enforcement Unit
The Office of the Insurance Commissioner seeks a qualified individual for this position within the Legal Affairs Division, based out of our Tumwater Office. The internship lasts 12 weeks, 20‑25 hours per week, and pay is $20.09 per hour.

About the Position
The Administrative Intern I provides administrative, clerical, and project-based support within the Legal Affairs Division, working closely with attorneys, investigators, and paralegal staff. Interns assist with legal research, document preparation, case file organization, and review of complaints and potential violations of state law (including RCWs and WACs). Exposure to enforcement actions, regulatory compliance, legislative analysis, rulemaking, and policy implementation is provided.

Required Qualifications

At least 18 years old.

Completion of at least four semesters or six quarters (or equivalent) at an accredited college or university.

Recent college graduate within six months of graduation majoring in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Political Science, Public Administration or related field.

Coursework in Paralegal Studies, Legal Ethics, Legal Research and Writing, Civil Law/Procedures, or Legal/Law Office Technology.

Knowledge of grammatical construction, sentence/paragraph development.

Demonstrated ability to follow directions, conduct research, and produce written reports.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

Basic level of Microsoft Office Suite skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills.

Ability to adapt, learn quickly, and work effectively in a team environment.

Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow agency policies (including RCWs and WACs).
