Centralized Scheduler

Under general supervision of the Centralized Scheduling Supervisor, the Centralized Scheduler provides quality healthcare in a culturally sensitive, competent caring manner to empower our patients and help them attain their highest level of health. This job class is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt. Essential functions may vary among positions and may include the following tasks and other characteristics. Examples of Tasks

Tasks:
Contacts/greets and communicates with customers. Responsible for answering telephone calls, retrieving and responding to voice mail messages. Directs all information to appropriate individual. Orients patients to the department with directions and instructions.
Scheduling: Performs a variety of scheduling for procedures. Is not limited to: scheduling patients for initial and follow-up appointments. Tracks no-shows, documents in appropriate system and communicates with physician, if applicable. Provides schedule in directed format to staff as needed.
Registration: Performs a variety of registration duties, is not limited to: providing patient with the initial registration information, creates and/or chooses appropriate electronic record, gathers signature (electronic or otherwise), medical authorization/referral coordination and / or financial responsibility. Completes daily data entry and scanning of patient registration information.
Obtains authorization from insurance companies as applicable and in accordance with HIPPA, completes patient chart process and maintains with appropriate information. Communicates with applicable insurance carriers and hospital billing for authorization updates. Ensure that appropriate chart information is forwarded to medical records as applicable.
Complete patient chart process and maintains with appropriate information. Communicates with Workman's Compensation and hospital billing for authorization updates and billing. Ensure that appropriate chart information is forwarded to medical records as applicable.
Views email on a daily basis and provides supervisor with appropriate information and memorandums.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of the history, culture, laws, rules, customs and traditions of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
Knowledge of expectations of medical office standards, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of basic medical office equipment and familiarity with usage.
Skill with gathering detailed and pertinent patient information from patients, guardians, or representative
Skill using a variety of office equipment and a personal computer with proficiency in MS Office and MS Outlook
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work effectively with a variety of clinically trained service providers.
Ability to meet and comply with HIPAA/Confidentiality policies and procedures and ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive patient information.
Ability to deal with sensitive issues and maintain appropriate, professional and confidential relationships.
Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience : High school diploma or GED required; For enrolled Community members without a GED, must obtain a GED. Requires participation in the HR GED Program and successful completion of the Arizona state certified exam in order to continue employment with SRPMIC
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered. An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill
Special Requirements

May be required to work outside normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Ensures all patient information is kept confidential and complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and SRPMIC HHS policies and procedures.
