Position Description
Torque by Ryder is immediately hiring a Permanent Full‑time Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet in Houston, Texas.
Pay & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $37.00 per hour based on experience
Retention Bonus: $2000 paid every quarter within the first year
Schedule: Flexible 40‑hour work week (weekend premiums apply)

Responsibilities
Make decisions regarding vehicle diagnostics and repair
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including preventive maintenance and complex repairs with minimal support
Use internal and external maintenance documents and diagnostic computers/software to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems
Provide remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solutions for roadside breakdowns
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints and provide solutions
Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance and repair procedures
Coordinate work schedule as required by customers and manage preventions, repairs, and estimations
Conduct preventive maintenance for A/C & Heater, Brakes‑Air, Brakes‑Hydraulic, Cargo Handling/Transfer, Liftgates, Charging Systems, Clutch, Cooling Systems, Cranking System, Lighting System, Drive Axles, Driveline, Engines, Fuel Systems, Steering, Suspension, Wheel/Maintenance, and Vehicle Coupling System
Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation for all work
Ensure proper maintenance of all service, safety, and environmental records to meet corporate and regulatory requirements
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or Technical Certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
Basic tools and equipment required
Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred
Commercial Driver License: CLASS E or CLASS A preferred
Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles and secure assigned mobile service truck
Experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
Knowledge of preventive maintenance (PM230 & PM298) within 90 days
Knowledge of Brakes‑Air (BA220 & BA298), Brakes‑Hydraulic (BH220 & BH298), Wheels & Tires (TW220), A/C training (AC220 & AC298), HD electrical (DR208), and other related certifications within specified time frames
Ability to understand and adhere to company policies, complete repair orders, maintain professional relationships, work independently or as part of a team, and prioritize workload
Strong mechanical, customer service, and account management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills
Self‑starter, self‑sufficient, and highly organized with exceptional time management and follow‑up practices
Entrepreneurial spirit and proactive approach
Completion of required OEM On‑Line diagnostic tool software courses as required by fleet location
Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check (including drug and alcohol verification for the last 3 years)
Additional screening may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or customer background or badging requirements
