campus. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Job Summary
As a part of the Operating Room Supply Chain, the SC Tech III role is to perform inventory management, submit supply requisitions, accept and verify supply deliveries, conduct expiring audits of supplies, manage stock room locations, support Sterile Processing, and distribute, organize and maintain supplies for use in the procedural/peri‑operative areas. The SC Tech III acts as a resource for information pertaining to all supplies kept in the procedural/peri‑operative areas at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital. Responsibilities include stocking temperature‑sensitive items, tissue, and lab supplies; working with vendors and suppliers; collaborating with the Inventory Planner team to forecast, prepare, and procure products for disruptions and back orders; using the surgical schedule to determine needs for upcoming cases; and attending daily huddles and meetings with clinical/surgical staff as a supply chain representative to discuss daily needs of the unit.
Essential Job Functions
Demonstrate skills using Tableau, Helios, and Oracle. Perform overstock and slow move
o move reviews and support supply chain materials management efforts to reduce inventory on hand. Perform data entry of supply orders into the automated materials management information system.
Re‑stock daily shipments from outside vendors, internal sources, or any procurement method.
Audit and verify shipments for correct units received, matching all shipments with packing lists and purchase orders generated from the automated materials management information system. Report discrepancies to the supply chain supervisor.
Access the materials management information system to identify stocking location for products received as needed and validate all ASN shipments received from the vendor.
Communicate daily with clinical/surgical staff regarding issues or outages. Notify the supply chain supervisor of all discrepancies on items ordered and not received. Replenish out‑of‑stock conditions within scheduled route.
Monitor and maintain established par‑level for supplies in all sterile, peri‑operative areas of the IMH and report variance to the supervisor. Recommend product purchases based on reorder points, min/max levels and par levels; recommend additional supply orders based on surgical activity or in response to clinical staff requests. Support staff members in accessing supplies, and inventory information. Replenishment process may include, but is not limited to, Kanban, RFID and/or barcode.
Answer the phones in assigned areas to assist customers with a positive tone. Demonstrate a customer‑centric approach and a willingness to assist.
Attend daily MDI (Manage for Daily Improvement) huddles to discuss work area, metrics, and schedules. Attendance is mandatory for all MDI huddles. Perform other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma.
Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to demonstrate skills in Excel and perform computer‑related tasks related to data input in the IMH materials management information system.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree preferred and at least 3 years of experience working in a sterile, Proc/Perioperative, and lab environment in a hospital.
Helios, Oracle, and RFID experience highly preferred.
