Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Graphic Design Student Worker for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
The College of Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences works to inspire curiosity about our sciences with a variety of communities and audiences, using a diversity of formats, both in person and virtually. We are in search of an enthusiastic and self‑motivated student with strong graphic design skills and creative ideas to help us make these dreams a reality. This student will work with a team of staff members to develop informational and interpretive products to support science communication and the creation of a welcoming environment within the college.

Position Duties
Create fliers, slides, posters, mailings, web content, and other digital and physical products to support the communications goals of CEOAS.
Create templates for CEOAS printed and electronic products (flyers, slides, etc.) that can be used into the future.
Design informational and interpretive signs, as well as components of interactive exhibits, other display types, and printed materials. This can include the development of infographics, use of photographs, integration of art, etc.
All projects need to strictly adhere to OSU brand and CEOAS sub‑brand guidelines.
Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program
Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS) , and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Ability to work collaboratively with a client to get the desired product
Graphic design skills sufficient to create desired products (working with photography, illustrations, infographics, etc.)
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Experience sharing scientific concepts in graphic form
Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through the use of design
Experience using brand guidelines to create graphic products
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This student will have several hours of training during spring term, the potential for a few hours of work over the summer, with the expectation of 20 hours per week during the next academic year (starting in Fall 2026).
