Regional Business Development Manager

StraussGroup - Executive Search Consultants, New York, NY, United States

We're working with an established metal building subcontractor known for delivering complex, design-forward structures across the hospitality and living spaces sectors. They're adding a Regional Business Development Manager to own and grow their Northeast Territory (New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts).
This isn't a maintenance role. We're looking for a hunter — someone who thrives on building a pipeline from scratch, navigating developer relationships, and closing deals on technically complex projects. If you've run a $20M+ book of business and know how to work a room full of developers and GCs, we want to talk.
What You'll Do Own full-cycle business development across the Northeast Territory, targeting developers, construction managers, architects, engineers, and general contractors
Build and maintain strategic relationships in hospitality, multifamily, affordable housing, student housing, and similar sectors
Prospect aggressively — cold calls, drop-in visits, networking events, and industry conferences
Review plans and blueprints to develop tailored value engineering strategies
Present proposals clearly and persuasively, handling objections and negotiating through close
Maintain accurate pipeline and account activity in CRM
Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings
What We're Looking For Proven track record managing a $20M+ book of business in a related sector
Deep experience selling into hospitality, multifamily, affordable housing, or student housing development markets
Hunter mentality — self-directed, entrepreneurial, and energized by building new relationships
Background in metal building products, designed/engineered products, or construction subcontracting preferred
Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and blueprints
Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills
CRM proficiency and strong organizational habits
Ability to travel extensively across the territory
Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, or construction sciences — or equivalent experience
