About the Role
The Category Specialist supports the Category Manager to execute category portfolio strategies and runs the end-to-end category management process for defined sub‑categories, including developing categories, sourcing strategies, and contract lifecycle management. The role also focuses on cost optimisation, stakeholder collaboration, procurement policy compliance, and ESG initiatives. Experience in Packing and Consumables is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Support the Category Manager to execute category portfolio strategies and lead the end-to-end category management process for defined sub‑categories, including the development of category and sourcing strategies, RFXs, contract negotiations, and contract management plans.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and provide guidance on procurement decisions.

Conduct market research and data analysis to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities for spend optimisation.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.

Monitor and report on supplier performance and compliance, addressing issues or discrepancies as needed.

Champion sustainable procurement practices, integrating environmental and social considerations into decision‑making.

Influence and mobilise stakeholders to deliver impactful change through clear communications and presentations.

Promote and implement the Procurement Policy and associated processes.

Represent the EDG Category Management Team.

Qualifications

At least 3 years of category management/sourcing experience with proven ability to develop and implement commercial strategies.

Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract negotiation, and supplier management.

Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrated track record of driving results and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Proven capability to operate in a fast‑paced procurement environment requiring excellent time and work prioritisation skills.

High attention to detail.

Strong Coupa experience is desirable.
