Job Summary
Madison’s most‑watched news station, WMTV, has an immediate opening for an evening anchor/reporter. The role is a high‑profile position demanding leadership, ambition, and a daily impact in both streaming and traditional content.
Duties / Responsibilities
Serve as the evening 5/6/9/10 p.m. co‑anchor, contributing daily to elevating the team and newscasts.
Act as an ambassador of the station, championing community initiatives such as the WMTV Diaper Drive and the Share Your Holidays campaign.
Make a noticeable impact in both streaming and traditional broadcast content.
Mentor others on the team and lead by example.
Be willing to evolve, try new things, and embrace change in newsroom operations.
Qualifications / Description
Minimum three years of newsroom experience.
A college degree in journalism or a related field.
Established, responsible presence on digital platforms, including the station website, social media, and streaming services.
Understanding of and adherence to AP Style and broadcast writing for television.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven news judgement, and the ability to make ethical calls while balancing speed and accuracy.
Strong work ethic, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work quickly, meet deadlines, multitask, and remain composed during breaking news.
Nighttime position with the ability to work long hours, overtime, weekends, and overnights when warranted for breaking news or specialized coverage.
Must be able to carry 35+ pounds of gear and be experienced in shooting and editing unique content.
All anchors are expected to know how to use the Mobile Media Kahuna (MMJ) as needed.
