Production Technician

Location: IL Chicago - Skyway 3020 E 103rd St, Chicago, IL 60617, USA

Salary Range:

$23-$27/hour based on experience.

Skyway Cement Company is a locally managed subsidiary of Eagle Materials Inc, one of the largest American‑owned suppliers of construction materials.

Position Summary:

Production Technician for a manufacturer of slag cement. Duties include equipment operation, inspections, clean‑up work, and some maintenance. The role requires a safety‑mindful attitude and the ability to work rotating shifts (8‑hour and 12‑hour) with mandatory overtime.

Primary Responsibilities

Load material with a front‑end loader.

Perform daily inspections of equipment.

Assist shift coordinator with daily operations of the plant.

Perform preventative maintenance routines of equipment.

Complete weekly cleanout duties of chutes.

Maintain good housekeeping standards (sweep, clean, pick‑up).

Assist other departments with maintenance and shipping activities.

Adapt to varying operational plans while maintaining safety and productivity.

Operate forklift, bobcat, and other mobile equipment as needed.

Position Dimensions

Must be flexible and able to work rotating shifts.

Must be able to work 40 hours or more per week.

Must be able to work mandatory overtime, including weekends.

Must adhere to SOPs.

Must be 18 years of age.

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Must tolerate temperature extremes in summer and winter.

Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat as needed.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).

Valid Driver's License (Required).

2+ years of industrial related work experience (Preferred).

Mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience (Preferred).
